The lovely Shari from Good Food Week nominated me for a Sisterhood of the World Blog Award. Here’s me, accepting the award:

Nah, kidding.
I don’t think she has a blog.
So, the Sisterhood of the World Blog Award is much like a Liebster Award, which is another blog award that I have ALSO won (chronic over-achiever, I know!). It’s not actually a physical award, just an internet thingy. I don’t know where it started or why; all I know is it’s a special award for lady-bloggers where you answer questions determined by the person that nominates you. You do this for no discernible reason except for a bit of fun and to let your readers get to know you a little better- the few of you who don’t actually know me.
So, brace yourselves, dear readers, as we prepare to explore the inner machinations of my mind. Or life. Or something.
Why did you start your blog?
Because I’m really quite mouthy and opinionated. This is probably no surprise. But a blog meant I could be mouthy and opinionated in a more organised fashion. You can read more about the rationale (if that’s the right word) here.
What makes you smile?
Usually, it’s something inappropriate. Lately, it’s been my husband, who has taken to shouting “NOT ALL MEN” at random intervals. Quite often, it’s my kids, too. The eldest has decided to go gothic, for example. I smile because I went through that, too, although she doesn’t want to believe me. Doesn’t stop her seeking liquid eyeliner advice, though!
Do you like a home cooked meal or do you prefer to go out to a restaurant?
Ohhh, tough one. I love to cook but I love being cooked for more. Bonus points for no cleaning up. Restaurant wins.
Did you attend the #PBEvent? And if you didn’t did you follow it on social media?
Nope. I’m not very “pro” at this blogging thing so I didn’t go but I did follow on social media. I saw a lot of us blogger types who also didn’t go posting their jealousy online. Instead, I shared this thrilling photo of what I was doing:
Who is your favourite person to follow on Instagram?
I can’t settle on one favourite. I like Sam of The Annoyed Thyroid‘s yummy food pics and Cate Bolt of Pretty Fkn Embroidery takes great shots of her work (sweary embroidery rocks!). Generally, I’m a big fan of nice food pics. And pets. All the cats, dogs, bunnies, guinea pigs and other furry friends- COME AT ME. I wanna squidge them all!
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
It hasn’t happened yet. I am destined for mediocre greatness, I’m sure. (Is that possible?) I have had my moments, though. I can make a wicked ailoi, I’m a pretty decent mum and I have managed to get people to read my writing and even occassionally pay me for the privelige. I have even had one post go viral-ish- it was this one, where I whinged about my life as a shift worker. Seems a lot of people could relate!
What would your theme song be?
This. And no, I’m not sure why.
If you had to eat a vegetable everyday for the rest of your life, what vegetable would it be? And what would be the top five recipes that you would make with that vegetable?
Too easy.
Mashed potato, baked potato loaded with unhealthy deliciousness, creamy potato bake, potato salad and, when I’m feeling fancy- gnocchi in pesto!
If you could be one Australian blogger, who would you be?
Me. I just won an award for it, right? Ha! I think if would be cool to live a day in the life of a few of my favourite bloggers. To be as snarkily clever as Hugzilla, to be all around crafty and good in the kitchen and wise like Bron from Maxabella Loves, to have the insight of Ellen from Potential Psychology, to have the way with words that Dani from Sand Has No Home has or the eye for crumpet that Mumabulous has- she really has an eye, let me tell you! What are you looking forward to achieving this Spring?
I am going to TRY to write fiction. It may be a short story. But dammit, I will get something out. And then probably show no one at all. But hey, I’ll know I did it!
