Manshoosh!

Manshoosh is a new, natural approach to men’s health and well being. The primary ingredient is a natural amino acid, found in high concentration in the brains of people known to be extremely logical and reasonable; the kind of people that ooze common sense. This amino acid, combined with natural oils, represent a revolutionary product for men.

This product is safe and secure for the user. When applied to a man’s lips, it creates a temporary seal that prevents him from spouting ridiculous ideas about the female body. Our aim is to use technology to improve the lives of men who would otherwise earn the ire of women everywhere for their ignorance and arrogance.

What is it about any gift-giving occasion that brings out the sexist stereotypes? Is it the evil geniuses known as marketing departments? I can picture them all, sitting around a table and devising ways to make gifts that subtly remind women of what their place in the world really is. Pink, floral-patterned, thin and doing the bloody housework. Sexist Christmas gifts are a thing! Ugh!

The Pink-Wash.

I spotted this game in a local op shop recently, in the Christmas gift display. I am amazed as to why it was donated to charity, unopened and unused.

My Contraceptive Pill Experience.

For many years, I took a pill every morning to prevent pregnancy. It took some time to find the right one for me. By that, I mean I had to find the type with the least objectionable side-effects.

In my quest for a suitable pill, I had some god-awful symptoms. Things like prolonged bleeding, which meant my usual period went for two weeks and happened every second fortnight. You can fucking keep that one. I’ve experienced ridiculous mood swings, anxiety, headaches, sore boobs, weight gain and, surprisingly, decreased interest in sex. Who’d have thought that feeling moody, anxious, sore and fat while bleeding like someone in a slasher movie would leave you less inclined to get busy between the sheets?

I’m sure we all remember Jill Meagher, who was was raped and murdered by a serial, violent offender who was on parole. He had been charged with an assault but his parole was not immediately revoked. Meagher was one of 3 women attacked and killed in a 6 month period by men on parole in Victoria and her case, along with that of Sarah Cafferkey and Sharon Siermans, was one referenced by a coroner who said that Meagher’s rape and murder could have been prevented. Thankfully, since Ms Meagher’s murder in 2012, Victoria has reviewed and amended their system, making it much more difficult for violent offenders to be released on parole.

Over the last few days, there has been a number of articles published in the media about the fact that a tougher parole system for violent and sexual offenders could have saved Jill Meagher.  However, we can’t expect people to actually read and understand articles before sharing them, along with their insipid commentary, on social media.
